Extracellular Matrix Influences on Gene Expression

چکیده
cialist working in the area under discussion or to individuals involved in very closely related areas of research. Within these limits, both the clinical and basic immunologist will find the first of two of these articles to be extremely useful, while immunochemists will no doubt value all three. The study of histocompatibility antigens is becoming increasingly important since apart from their obvious role in histocompatibility itself, there has been a rapidly accumulating body of evidence to suggest that the cell membrane antigens play a fundamental role in conditioning some host reactions and that the genetic factors controlling the expression of these antigens are thus able to control much of the cell's internal environment and behavior. Most of the data presented in the article on antibody heterogeneity support the view that antibody variability is achieved by an evolutionary process. However, it is certainly not clear how antibody diversity is maintained in different species, and this important problem is reviewed. The significance of the finding that certain streptococcal vaccines can produce large amounts of restricted antipolysaccharide antibodies is discussed in detail, and the factors contributing to the occurrence of a monoclonal type of response are well outlined. Locked away in the mysteries surrounding the maintenance of antibody heterogeneity are many important genetic secrets and much important biological information ranging from the generation of diversity among antigen recognition units on the surface of lymphocytes to the nature of the stimulus that might provoke a malignant response. The third article clearly outlines the potential of yeast as a model organism for studying basic questions concerning nucleic acid synthesis. One of the great advantages of this organism is the ease with which genetic analysis can be performed, and it seems that this model will produce an in-depth investigation of the mechanism of DNA replication. In each of these articles the writing is disciplined but expressive, the references are both numerous and relevant, and in general this issue of this popular series can be highly recommended to those interested in the areas covered. The articles contain many good figures, and an excellent subject index is supplied.

EVALUATION OF THE EFFECTS OF IBUPROFEN CYTOTOXIC DOSE ON EXPRESSION LEVEL OF EXTRACELLULAR MATRIX DEGRADING MMP-9 AND ANTI-METASTASIS NM23 GENES IN CERVICAL CANCER CELLS
Background & Aim: Although studies have shown that ibuprofen has anticancer effects on many cancer cells, the mechanism of the ibuprofen anticancer effect in cancer cells is not still well understood. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of cytotoxic concentration of ibuprofen on the expression level of MMP-9 and NM23 genes in cervical cancer cells. Materials & Methods: During t...
متن کاملEffect of extracellular matrix on testosterone production during in vitro culture of bovine testicular cells
Testosterone is believed to play a significant role in spermatogenesis, but its contribution to the process of spermatogenesis is not completely understood. Given that extracellular matrix (ECM) facilitates differentiation of spermatogonial stem cells (SSCs) during culture, the present study was conducted to elucidate whether testosterone contribute to the permissive effect of ECM on SSCs diffe...
متن کاملThe Effect of Fatty Liver Disease on the Expression of RXFP1 and CTGF Genes in Cardiac Tissue of Wistar Rats
Background & Aims: Performing physical activity and having a healthy body is one of the most essential life needs of people with fatty liver. In recent years, studies have been performed on the relationship between fatty liver and arthrosclerosis. The results of these studies indicate the relationship between the Non-alcoholic fatty liver and arthrosclerosis of coronary artery disease. Non-alco...
متن کاملCD147 (Extracellular Matrix Metalloproteinase Inducer-EMMPRIN) Expression by Human Articular Chondrocytes
Background: Integrins are a family of transmembrane proteins that allow communication between the extracellular matrix and the interior of cells. Chondrocytes, cells of articular cartilage, express integrins and these molecules appear to have a variety of roles including mechanotransduction. Integrins are known to associate with a number of accessory molecules such as CD147 that may act to regu...
متن کاملSimulated Microgravity Condition Alters the Gene Expression of some ECM and Adhesive Molecules in Adipose-Derived Stem Cells
Adipose-derived stem cells (ADSCs) are widely used for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. The beneficial effects of ADSCs on wound healing have already been reported. Remodeling of extracellular matrix (ECM) is the most important physiological event during the wound healing. ECM is sensitive to mechanical stresses and the expression of its components can be therefore influenced. The ...
متن کاملThe effect of resistance training and date pollen extract on bone tissue density and osteoblast cell proliferation in young male rats
Extended Abstract 1.Introduction One of the tissues that is affected by physical activity is bone. Bone is one of the tissues that needs to receive mechanical load to have normal function as a key factor in strengthening bone mass (2). Evidence shows that the mechanical load resulting from physical activity activates a set of proteins involved in the process of osteoblast activation and inhib...
